Hoboken Talks with Michelle Doll
Please join us virtually on Thursday, April 10th at 7pm when painter Michelle Doll sits down with Jason Patrick Voegele for our next episode of Hoboken Talks!
Born in Canton, Ohio, Michelle was called to to lead the creative life of a painter. She received an excellent foundation in studio art by pursuing a BFA at Kent State University.
As the next part of her creative journey, Michelle packed up and headed east to pursue her MFA from the New York Academy of Art in 2004. After a short stint in Weehawken, Michelle settled in Hoboken and has lived here ever since.
Michelle Doll’s paintings capture quiet, private moments hinged on personal connections between herself and her subjects. Her paintings are infused with themes of intimacy and introspection and explore contemporary ideas about family, love, desire and femininity.
Her art has received numerous accolades and awards, including the Prince of Wales/ Forbes Foundation Travel Grant (2006), Artist in Residence at Eden Rock on St. Barth’s (2008), The Bennett Prize Honorable Mention (2018), a fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts (2019) and The Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed Grant (2024).
Her paintings have been exhibited in the US and internationally with solo exhibitions at Pontone Gallery in London, Galleri Ramfjord in Oslo, Blank Space Gallery in NYC, DFN Gallery in NYC and Lyons Wier Gallery in NYC.
Michelle will be interviewed by Jason Patrick Voegele, who is a writer, curator, art consultant and reformed gallerist.
We can’t wait to hear from this superb woman creative on April 10th!
