About the Museum
Founded in 1986, the Hoboken Historical Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving the pulse of our city. We don’t just store history; we bring it to life through the diverse culture and unique stories of Hoboken. You can find us in the former Bethlehem Steel machine shop—one of the oldest standing landmarks on the waterfront.
Our Mission & Vision
Mission: We advance the understanding of Hoboken’s history, culture, and architecture. By collecting, preserving, and interpreting artifacts and oral histories, we document a heritage that resonates on a local, regional, and national scale.
Vision: We are building a dynamic, inclusive, and culturally vital future. Our roadmap includes expanding our physical footprint by 7,500 square feet—adding permanent galleries and a 75-seat auditorium—backed by a $10 million endowment for long-term sustainability.
