Artist talk with Bill Curran: New Works (live on YouTube)
August 16, 2020 @ 12:00 am
On Sunday, August 23, at 5 pm, join us for a one-on-one conversation with artist and Museum Associate Bill Curran, live on YouTube, hosted by Museum Director Bob Foster and Collections Manager Rand Hoppe. Bill will discuss his approach to painting and show some recent paintings of Hoboken. Viewers can submit questions and comments during the event to the hosts. The livestreamed event will run from 5 to 6 pm online.
Bill’s gift is finding beauty in the mundane, from the scenes out of his second-floor window to a potted plant on a Hoboken stoop. He’s been very prolific this year and will share a series of paintings he created in 2020. In describing his approach to art, he says, “My paintings are inspired by color and shapes, seen on walks, or viewed through a window. Flowers are a favorite subject. The feeling of adding lush paint to a rough canvas is incomparable.”
