A Day Celebrating Hispanic Heritage – Tabling, Photo Booth, Salsa Dancing, Mixer and Film Screening
September 6, 2022 @ 12:00 am
Hispanic Heritage month begins September 15. Join us at the Museum on Saturday, September 17 at 1301 Hudson for a multi-event day that celebrates Hispanic Heritage! And it’s Free!
We’ll have Hispanic-owned and themed vendors and orgs tabling from noon until 5. Have your picture taken in our Photo Booth run by Collections Manager Rand Hoppe, and receive a beautiful laser-printed color keepsake, suitable for framing to give to your abuelita! At 2:30, join in as professional dancer and instructor Oscar Burgos leads Salsa dancing in the Shipyard Passageway. At 4:00, there’s a mixer – meet new friends, catch up with old ones. How many Hispanic nations do YOU claim in your heritage? Be sure to “Sign In” at our Table of Countries! At 5:00, we are thrilled and honored to screen the feature film debut of writer/director David Riker, “La Ciudad” (The City). This award-winning 1998 classic takes place in the world of disenfranchised Latin American immigrants living in New York. It is a dramatically photographed collection of stories of love, hope, and loss. Director David Riker will be present!
Espero verte allí! More details on this action-packed day to follow!
