Hoboken Talks broadcasts on the 2nd and last Thursday of each month.

Known to many as “Miss Shirley,” Shirley M. Dennis is mother to two sons, and a grandmother of five children. She is retired from a 41 year career in Hoboken’s City Hall. She was also the Black History Month Coordinator there for more than 10 years. Her heart’s desire is to be in full time ministry serving wherever the Lord opens a door. Go Ye Therefore Ministries motto is to “meet the needs of the people where they are.” In 2014 she launched a CD recorded with her family “GetUp2Live: Family Affair in Christ.” Pastor Dennis desires to be a “stepping stone not a stumbling block” to those who touch her life.  She prays that her family and friends would remember that she strived to help in any way she could, and believes, “It is essential that we know our history so we can appreciate where we are and where we are going.”

Pastor Dennis will be interviewed by guest host La Trenda Ross, the CEO and Founder of Trending Into A New Life, LLC, a coaching business that specializes in helping individuals reach their full potential across all aspects of their lives.

La Trenda Ross grew up in the City of Hoboken and lived most of her life as a resident of the Hoboken Housing Authority. She moved back to Jersey City two years ago. Among her favorite activities are volunteering, locating, and sharing resources, shopping, dancing, and sight-seeing. La Trenda’s favorite quote: “Carve your name on hearts, not tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you.” ― Shannon Alder
