Gift Memberships
Gift memberships are happily accepted by the Museum and the recipient!
In our small space in one of the oldest buildings on the waterfront, the Hoboken Historical Museum showcases the city’s rich heritage and hosts some of its most popular contemporary events. Through award-winning exhibitions and publications, a dedicated team of professionals and an army of volunteers collaborate to bring interesting aspects of Hoboken’s past to light.
We collect, preserve and interpret artifacts and oral histories, both historic and contemporary, and host guest lectures, films, readings and concerts. Our Upper Gallery features local artists whose work interprets Hoboken and our area in a range of visual media.
Our support comes in part from public grants and fundraising events such as the annual Secret Garden Tour, House Tour, Baby Parade, Heirloom Tomato-Tasting Festival and more. But a major source of our funding comes from donations by local businesses and individual members of the community like you.
Become a member today. Join our cause to help preserve Hoboken’s history and share it with generations to come.

Volunteer
…just for the fun of it!
The Hoboken Historical Museum is a small nonprofit that depends on the energy and dedication of our volunteers. Because we are supported primarily by local fundraising and public grants, volunteers are essential to managing the events that fund our educational exhibits and community programs.
Volunteering is a rewarding way to get to know your neighbors and connect with the city’s vibrant cultural life. No prior experience is needed—the only requirement is a friendly attitude!
Ways You Can Help
Most assignments last only a few hours. There is truly something for everyone:
- Event Support: Help with setup, registration, or selling merchandise at Museum events.
- Tour Hosts: Stand in as a host at various sites during our popular Garden Tour and House Tour.
- Community Outreach: Staff the Museum booth at city-sponsored events and community festivals (like the Fall Arts & Music Festival) to spread the word about our activities.
