Carbon paper, 3 rolls, manufactured by the Autographic Register Co., Hoboken, n.d., ca. 1920-1940.
Object/Artifact
Three rolls of one ply carbon paper, "Roll Carbon," manufactured by the Autographic Register Co., Hoboken, no date, circa 1920-1940.
The product was typically used in counter or desk top machines used to write up invoices, receipts, bills, etc. in duplicate. The company made such machines.
From the former Kostelecky family residence and business at 218 Bloomfield St., Hoboken. It is very probable that the carriage and auto repair business at that address used these materials in business operations.
Two each: roll 4-7/8" wide x ca. 1" diameter wrapped in red glassine paper. Printed paper label (partially - chipped corner) seals the wrapper on one roll: "Regular | One Ply | Autographic Register Co. | Hoboken, N.J." Second roll lacks label and is partially unwrapped. Both have a 2-7/8" x 3" wide printed sheet enclosed:"Instructions for Securing Best Results." (One has been removed and imaged.)
One each: same as above but 4-1/4" long x ca. 7/8" diameter. Includes same wrapping and exterior printed label is complete.
Autographic Register Co. was at Tenth and Clinton Sts.; 1000 Clinton St., 1004 Clinton St.
