Transportation ticket: Morris & Essex Railroad Company. Good for One Passage on the date sold Only from Orange to Millville [New Jersey]. No date, circa 1860-1869.
Orange paper pasteboard, printed in black, 1-1/4" high x 2-1/2" wide; overprinted or stamped front and back with crossbow shaped symbol (or open arrow to be punched when used or marked to indicate travel direction?); back has a large printed '4'.
Facsimile signature of P.H. Riordan. (He was chief clerk of the M&E.)
The Morris & Essex was leased by the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad in 1869 when it became the Morris & Essex Division of the D.L.& W. R.R.
This ticket may have been issued earlier than 1860.
