Reference image: View from river of tugboats(fireboats) fighting fire on Piers 5 & 6, Hoboken, August, 1921. The ocean liner S.S. Leviathan is in the background.
As found printed on page [7]: Hoboken New Jersey 1855-1955, Souvenir booklet from Hoboken Centennial. cf. archive catalog 2001.022.0005. The pier fire was fought under the supervision of Fire Department Chief John J. Gilday. Caption notes that a Hoboken astrologer, Gustav Meyer, predicted the exact day of the fire to Chief Gilday. It also notes that 5,000 war dead on Piers 3 and 4 were removed along with one moored ship.
Not credited, but original image is probably from the Historical Picture Collections of the Hoboken Public Library.
