Slide rule model 4081-3, made by Keuffel & Esser Co, N.Y., no date, circa 1941. White celluloid plastic laminated to mahogany wood, 12-1/2" long x 1-5/8" high x 1/4" thick (dimensions not including indicator); with metal braces; improved glass indicator (cursor). Serial number: 776915. Lacking: printed instructions.
Top and bottom edges of rule are hand inscribed: C E Helstrom. Date was derived from the serial number. Serial number appears on back side at the left end of the slide and on the top left edge of the stator. See notes.
Rule is marked on the stator front at the top: Keuffel & Esser Co., N.Y. | Pats. Re.20,943 | 1,930,852 | 2,168,056 | 2,170,144 | Pat. Pend. | Made in U.S.A. Indicator is marked on top edge: Patent 2,086,502. Bottom edge is marked: Keuffel & Esser Co. N.Y.
