This sheet music is an early example of Sinatra's image being used for promoting the sale of this type of product. His newly arrived status as a celebrity and fan favorite in 1943 made him a selling point for the publisher. While he sang the work either onstage or on a radio program, he did not record it at that time (first recording by him was in 1961.) There was a hit recording of this song in 1942 (recorded Feb. 18th) by the Mills Brothers (Decca Record No. 18318, it went on to sell six million copies) and the sheet music with the cover artwork format seen here was first published in 1942 with the Mills Brothers. Also in 1942 there were two versions with Bing Crosby and one with band leader Guy Lombardo. ---- The song was written in 1915, copyright of John Stewart Black. It carries four additional copyright dates of the Marks Music Co. or Corp. from 1930 to 1943. ----
