The view is looking east with New York City in the background. The Erie Rail Road maintained a Marine Repair Yard in this area and railroad car floats were typically present here. See photo catalog 2003.048.0001 for another view of this scene.
The company was located in Weehawken from 1908 until it moved to its present facility in Hoboken in the late 1980's.
