Object/Artifact
Ruler, 6", probably made by Keuffel & Esser Co., Hoboken, N.J. and marked with name of employee, engineer Werner Hauschild. No date, circa 1950s-1960s. Boxwood and white celluloid with black markings, four bevels, 6" long scales (overall 6-3/4".) Name is engraved in boxwood: W. Hauschild.
No K&E markings on the item including product number nor any marks by any other possible manufacturer. End thickness is slightly greater than typical K&E items, but that is not considered definitive in stating that it was or was not made by K&E. Hauschild was employed as a K&E engineer working on transits and theodolites for circa 30 years starting about 1954.
