Syrup server: "Log Cabin's Wigwam Syrup" [Log Cabin Products Div. General Foods, Hoboken], n.d., ca. 1945-1960.
Object/Artifact
Syrup server imprinted "Log Cabin's Wigwam Syrup". No date circa late 1940s through 1950s. Clear glass with yellow silkscreen printed panel with negative lettering, 1-3/4" diameter x 2-1/4" high; pouring lips on each side end (using marking as a front reference point.) No maker's marks are found on the base.
The Wigwam brand was an imitation maple syrup made from cane sugar syrup that was flavored and colored (see notes.) It was made by the Log Cabin Products Division of General Foods in Hoboken during this period. A lithographed can seen from this period carried text on it: A superb table syrup prepared especially for hotels and restaurants.
This branded service item was obviously distributed for use in the restaurant and food service industries. A small pourer in a beaker shape rather than a pitcher; single serving size.
