Object/Artifact
Commemorative coin issued by Banking House of John Steneck & Sons, Hoboken, N.J., [1911]. Gold color stamped metal, 1-3/8" diameter. Two examples; one with a hang hole.
Apparently issued upon the opening of the building depicted on the front and to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the business which was originally an agency for passenger ship and railroad tickets. (It evolved to become a banking institution.)
Front has the text as above with a depiction of the building erected by them at the southwest corner of River and First Streets. This view of 95 River St. is looking southeast. It became known as the Steneck Building which was the home of the firm, later known as Steneck Trust Company. Several floors were available as office rentals.
