Chrome-plated metal, pointed spade with natural wood shaft and handhold; Y-type handle; engraved metal plate with text as above screwed to center of shaft. The ceremony was for a new emergency room and related facilities that were to be erected on the former parking lot site at the southeast corner of Willow Ave and Fourth Street. It opened in 2009. The shovel was the property of Annette Tomarazzo, to whom it was presented when she became chairperson of the Hoboken Municipal Hospital Authority in March 2010. (She was not present at the 2007 ceremony.) Hoboken University Medical Center (HUMC) was the former Saint Mary's (or Mary) Hospital. It was at the time of the ceremony owned by the City of Hoboken.
