Ribbon badge with medal: Hoboken Board of Trade 1907. Issued ca. 1907-1917. Silver finish cast relief metal medallion, irregular 1-5/16" diameter with integral hanging ring; reverse plain except for maker's mark: C.G. Braxmar Co., N.Y.; with 1-3/8" wide black grosgrain ribbon with fob chain. Overall height including chain: 7-1/2".
Front depicts the Seal of the City of Hoboken art as the center with perimeter lettering: Hoboken Board of Trade 1907.
The black ribbon usually indicates the use of the ribbon badge for memorial occasions such as a funeral or memorial service, but it may have have been a fashion and possibly used with a watch or watch chain.
The Board of Trade was founded in 1907 as a business promotion organization. By the early 1920s it was superceded by the Hoboken Chamber of Commerce.
