Object/Artifact
Promotional advertising novelty: Venus School Pencils case. American Lead Pencil Co., Hoboken, New Jersey. No date, circa 1930-1950.
Printed paper on cardboard tube in the shape of sharpened pencil with pointed wood tip plus shaped; sleeved top end inserted: painted wooden eraser with cardboard tube; 1" diameter x 12" overall length. No stock number or product number found.
Faux eraser has a red border gummed adhesive label attached (plus two strips of vintage clear tape applied over it) with the inkstamp of a company that apparently was a distributor for Venus products:
Kemmerer Paper Co.
Distributor
385-387 Hamilton St.
Alllentown, PA.
The Allentown address for that company is consistent with the probable date range of this item. It was a large company that sold paper containers (i.e. boxes), stationery and school supplies.
