Ribbon badge: Grand Opening of The Holland Tunnel. November 12th, 1927. Official Party.
Dark blue ribbon with dull gilt lettering, 2" wide x 3-1/2" high; doubled over with stitching seen at top, but no apparent evidence of a pin bar. A printed paper label of manufacturer, Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, N.J., is mounted on the reverse. The ribbon is in two pieces due to fold at center where label ended and is in poor condition. The printed label, 1-3/4" square, is mounted of the lower half of the ribbon. Text of label:

The ceremonial opening of the Holland Tunnel was on November 12, 1927. The ceremony was held in New York at the tunnel entrance plaza. It first opened to general traffic at midnight of November 13, 1927.
While the event was indirectly related to Hoboken, the tunnel was a significant change to the community in its effect on rail commuting and businesses. It has not been established who owned this badge.
