Triangular red felt, 10-3/4" high x 28" wide; white silkscreened or heatset applique lettering in a capitalized serif type on an arc: DEMAREST. White felt header (or spine); two sets of ties (unused).
Lettering has yellowed and cracked.
Typically considered as a football pennant, but often used at other sporting events such as basketball games. Commonly tied to a short stick to be waved; item here does not show evidence of that use or any pinholes typical of when used for wall decoration.
Demarest was the name of Hoboken's high school until 1962. Dating of this artifact is estimated based on general condition. It may be from the 1940s.
