Padlock for Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad steam locomotive no. 134, circa 1880-1900.
Bronze, 2-3/8" wide x 3" high x 5/8" thick plus keyhole cover slide. NO KEY. Barrel keyhole. Made by W.[Wilson] Buchannan, Brooklyn, N.Y. Arc top clevis.
Side keyhole: clevis stamped D.L.& W. R.R. Also manufacturer's patent number partially readable (patent was: Pat. June 25.78.__ t - the last two digits which are not present would have been the model number which by size and shape is probably 74.)
Side 2: clevis stamped: Eng. No 134.
This locomotive did operate in and out of Hoboken per Taber and period news accounts of train speed record runs that originated or ended in Hoboken.
