DescriptionThirty-eight color slides of Operation Sail as seen from Hoboken, July 4, 1976. Photographer not indicated, but it was probably a member of the Avegno family of 907 Castle Point Terrace where these slides were found in a tray identifying the event and date. Also dated on the mounts by processor. The images were taken from a field just west of Castle Point at the Stevens Intitute of Technology overlooking their tennis courts and the Hudson River. Most are looking southeast. Also seen beyond the tennis courts are the buildings that were once piers 8 and 9 on River Road. The slides are stored in two pages and numbered with suffixes .01 to .38. Only the first five slides are imaged as they are typical of the entire group. No other information such as ship names, etc. is available. The event was the celebration of the Bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence.
