Display Value: Fair Notes: Archives 2005.005.0008 ==== Office of the Chief of Police City of Hoboken 97 Washington Street Hoboken, November 8th, 1880 To the Honorable the Board of Police Commissioners Gentlemen The following are the reports of Robberies and arrest of thieves since my last report of October 11th, 1880. October 15th George A. Henderson confidence man arrested by Officer Gallagher October 16th William Daley arrested by Valentine Reetline charge breaking into his stable in Ferry Street near Jefferson and stealing a horse blanket. October 17th C.N. Gerken. Grocer of 156 Newark St. complains of some person breaking into his store through the back window and stealing 5 boxes of segars [cigars] 1 box of tobacco and $2 in money. Officer P.M. Breen[Brian?] V McCurdy on Post October 19th John Lewis reports that his stable was broken into and a saddle and a pair of stirrups stolen. Office Kelly on Post. October 30th John Murphy of Grand Street between 6th & 7th Streets complains of some person stealing a heavy canvas bag on cover from his wagon. October 30th Mr. Chas. Schultz, Lumber dealer on the River walks complains of some person entering his stable and stealing one set of harness. Property recovered. October 31st Mr. Meyers of the corner of Washington & Third Streets complains of some person stealing one overcoat, one bottle of whiskey and $1.10 in money. November 1st John Hasting arrested by Officer Slattery charge stealing a set of harnesses from Mr. Chas Schultz. November 1st Thomas Doorley arrested by Officer Gallagher, charge stealing a set of harnesses from Mr. Chas Shultz. November 1st Frederick Schebe arrested by Officer Flattery, charge buying stolen property. November 2nd Mr. L. Weinthal complains of some person stealing 3 dozen vests from his store 56 Washington St. by breaking in his back window. Property recovered. November 2nd August Dauhl arrested by Officer Gallagher on complaint of Michael Zeppelins, charge passing a worthless $10 confederate bill on him. November 4th George Dane alias Frank Reeves arrested by Officer Wright on complaint of Thomas W. Goftin[?] of the Steamboat, Gene Sedgwick charge stealing one silver watch and chain and $21 in money from him, property recovered. Respectfully Submitted Chas. A.
