Sewing kit labeled "Compliments of Eric Lawton Funeral Home." (Hoboken, no date, 1937 to circa 1950; patent number stamped on bottom as well as printed on label; patent no. 2084780 dates this as not earlier than 1937.) Aluminum tube with thimble cap, circa 2-1/8" high x 5/8" diameter; printed paper label (clear lamination on label); wood insert, thread, 2 metal needles, straight pin and safety pin.
Content is a turned wood tube with a burgundy stained wood cap to hold needles plus two colors of thread are spooled on it.
Lawton's location in 1937 is not known, but after World War Two, he was the successor to the A.J. Volk Funeral Home at 631-633 Washington St. (It later became Lawton-Turso.)
Item was once in the possession of a Joseph Prester.
