The view is looking southeast at Hudson Place from River Street. The sign at the middle right edge indicates the entrance to the Hudson Tunnels (the Hudson 'Tubes', the Hudson and Manhattan Railroad which is now the PATH) which opened in 1908. Also the streetcar terminal with streetcars can be seen. The building at the left is the Second National Bank, 77 River St.
