T-shirt: Hotel Victor; This is Displacement; Where will these men go? (Hoboken), no date, circa 1987-1992. Turquoise cotton short sleeve shirt, crew neck, size "Large." (Item has been laundered multiple times and as a result has shrunk.) Owned and used by Hoboken resident Dina Gerasia.
Silkscreened artwork centered front and back. Front: artistic photo image of Hotel Victor mounted hanging neon sign, irregular vertical rectangle, printed in black and fluorescent green on dark blue background; back - artistic photo in black depicting entrance doors with painted lettering and street number (Hotel 44 Victor) on transom window with hand lettering printed on image: This is Displacement ["displacement" underlined] | Where will these men GO?
Although not so marked, the museum curator has stated that artwork on the shirts was created by local Hoboken artists Tim Daly and Sheilah Scully.
The hotel at 44 Hudson Place (northeast corner of Hudson Street and Hudson Place) was once a single resident occupancy (SRO) hotel until the late 1980s or early 1990s when it was no longer operated as a hotel.
