Bronze plaque [company logo]: Neumann Fine Leathers Since 1863. No date, circa 1930-1960.
Cast bronze in shape of a tanned animal hide with text and animal depictions, all in relief. Mounted on a varnished mahogany backboard, 17-1/4" wide x 19-1/4" high x 7/8" thick. Painted corner bosses for mount (one only seen in image.)
Text on plaque: Neumann Fine Leathers Since 1863.
Depictions of five animals which were a source and a product line for this tannery and leather products manufacturer: sheep; seal; ostrich; antelope; calf (or cow).
Fuller name of the company was R. Neumann & Co. This logo or emblem was used on products, stationery, publications and elsewhere for many decades until updated for the company centennial in 1963.
Object is from Neumann business premises courtesy of the Bernheim Family; it was part of office decor in the sixth floor executive offices at 300 Observer Highway, Hoboken.
