Three questionaires created by the Committee on Cultural Purity, Hoboken, no date, circa mid to late 1970's. Three photostatic copies of typewritten leaves, 8-1/2" x 14" high. Very faded; scanned and enhanced legible prints on file.
The "Committee" was reputed to be retired school teachers (none of whom have been identified) who wrote this for their own amusement as well as for educational purposes. It reflects a response to the many new residents in the decade as well as a nostaglic remembrance by the authors of a Hoboken that they knew. It is also an example of the tensions between the so-called 'born and raised' with the newcommers or 'yuppies' (a term derived from phrase 'Young Urban Professionals.') The answer key is not available.

Leaf 2: Titled: Committee on Cultural Purity Intermediate Questionnaire[sic]. Text starts: "So-o-o you think you're the right stuff- a 14 karat, gen-u-ine born 'n bred..." 40 questions.
