Black-and-white photo of Washington Street after the blizzard of March 12, 1888, Hoboken, March 1888. 6" x 9" wide print mounted on chipboard. Photograph taken by S. Fichtel, Hoboken, N.J. 1888 as captioned in image lower left. Reverse of mount was blank; loosened label of frame shop.
The photograph was probably taken a day or two after the blizzard. It is commonly referred to as the "Blizzard of '88." Looking south on Washington St. from Fourth Street. At the right is signage for M. Brauer, Dry Goods - Millinery, with address numbered 148 (now 324), further toward the center is William F. Condit's housewares at 136 Washington (now 312).
