Mauriello, a boxer fought in several heavyweight championship bouts in the 1940's. He was a long-time friend of Frank Sinatra and Sinatra provided some support for Mauriello's boxing career. Mauriello also appeared in the motion picture, On the Waterfront, which was filmed in Hoboken as "Tullio," a waterfront union thug.
