The New Yorker, Volume IX, No. 17, June 10, 1933. Cover artwork: "Souvenir. The American National Game of Baseball. Grand Match for the Championship at the Elysian Fields, Hoboken, N.J." Full issue with cover, 56 pp., 8-3/4" wide x 11-17/8" high. Cover only: Media Archive.
The cover art is a modern artist's ("Brown" [Harry Brown]) stylized interpretation of a Currier & Ives color lithographic print from 1866 that depicted the same scene in a more formal way and was titled the same except for the word "Souvenir." (The artist presumably had access to an original or a later reprint that was done circa 1920s by Einson-Freeman Co. Inc., Long Island City, New York. cf. 2002.214.0093.)
