Receipt from the International Musical Corporation [14th and Bloomfield Streets, Hoboken, N.J.] for "One International Instrument" (ukelin), Paid in Full, June 25, 1929. 7" high x 8-1/2" wide.
This receipt accompanied objects 2008.033.0001, the ukelin that was purchased June 25, 1929. See archives 2008.033.0002, .0004 to .0006 for other documents and sheet music that relate to this contract.
Note "Regular Price $35.00" at the top left. (This price could also usually be seen on the printed label mounted inside the sound hole(s) on the instrument.) It is stated at the top right of this sheet: "Advertising Rate for Limited Time Only $17.50." The document is actually a contract used by the door to door salesmen (here it is a J.A. Morris, working on commission) that sold the instrument. Essentially the purchaser would pay him $5.00 down and pay the rest in installments to the company. The person receiving this instrument did not use the installment plan and paid in full the $17.50.
The text at the top gives the impression of some special arrangement by the salesperson with the manufacturer. On the back was a short credit questionaire for customers who were going to pay by that method.
(Note that the address is variously given as Fourteenth or Fifteenth Street.)
