Instruction bulletin: Hudson & Manhattan Railroad Co., Transportation Dept. Announcements of Stations by Trainmen. No. 3. Form 1261-B. No date, circa 1925-1937.
Single sheet pink paper, 16" wide x 4-3/4" high, accordion folded to [10] pages, 3-1/4" wide x 4-3/4" high; printed both sides.
Presumably issued from the New York offices. Hoboken as a terminal station is seen repeatedly.
Has instructions for following Rule 288 on announcing stations. It is very literal in that every word or phrase to be used is printed; i.e. for a station name, it is printed twice because it is to be announced twice. It also includes instructions for anouncements to used depending on conditions or locations such as when trains are crowded: "Please Move to Center of Car. Do Not Block Doorway."
While undated, it is probably no later than June 1937 as it has 'Manhattan Transfer' listed. Manhattan Transfer, a Pennsylvania Railroad connection, was an occasional stop. It was discontinued by the P.R.R. in June of 1937. Also present is a chart titled "Table of Running Time" which had times between stations.
