Eighteen pieces of cut pressboard or bristol board (varying sizes; longest 54"; widest ca. 15") for patterns with attached pattern style board (16" high x 21" wide with fabric and trim samples and attached documents. Group is punched and strung with brass prong claps on a string looped to a metal hook for hanging on a pipe rack.
Alorna Coat Corp. had a manufacturing plant or factory (Distribution and Administration) at 1515 Willow Ave., Hoboken. Company had a New York showroom at 463 Seventh Avenue, New York, N.Y.
The style board has materials and notations on both sides. Front has a photocopy of the fashion design drawing taped to it; a handwritten chart at the right has holographic dated entries for design and fabrication work for samples or production. These dated entries range from February to August of 2003 and are not in chronological order. The back has a smaller verision of the rendering plus a form "Cut Must" with holographic entries of all the parts that must be cut.
The coat was a typical fashion that the company produced, but they made many different styles. The pattern set here is only one example of the several hundred left at the site by the company when it went out of business.
