Notes: Transcription of archives 2010.010.0050: Constable's Bond, John M. Francis, John Walker, Township of Hoboken, N.J., July 6, 1849. Know all men by their presents that we John M. Francis and John Walker both of Hoboken Township in the County of Hudson in the State of New Jersey, an held and firmly bound unto the inhabitants of the township aforesaid in the sum of one thousand dollars money of the United States of America to be paid to the said Inhabitants of the township of Hoboken their successors or assigns, to which payment well and truly to be made. We bind ourselves and each of us for himself in the whole, our and every of our heirs, executors and adminstrators firly by these present sealed with our seals and dated the sixth day of June Eighteen Hundred and forty nine. The condition of this obligation is that whereas the above bound John M. Francis was on the fifth day of July inst (1849) duly appointed a constable of said Township by the Town Committee of said Township (to file a vacancy) agreeable to the provisions of the 13th section of an act entitled "an act incorporating the inhabitants of townships, designating their powers, and regulating their meetings." Know therefore, if the said John M. Francis shall truly and faithfully perform all the duties enjoined on him as Constable of said Township, then the above obligations to be void, otherwise to be and remian in full force and virtue.
