Sepia tone photo of the U.S.S. Kansa probably at New York Shipbuilding Corp. shipyard, Camden, N.J, no date, circa 1906-1907. 6" x 8" wide printed on 10" x 12" photographer's mount. Photographer was H.E. Morse, Charlestown, Mass. as stamped on the reverse otherwise blank. Ink stamped title of ship's name beneath print.
The relation of Hoboken to this image is that two men who may have worked at this yard on this vessel later worked at Hoboken shipyard facilities per donor Dorothy Butler. These two men were relatives of her: William Sankowsky, her grandfather on her mother's side; Ferdinand Sankowsky, her uncle.
The U.S.S. Kansas was built at this shipyard; launched August 12, 1905 and commissioned April 18, 1907.
