Two digital black-and-white photographs of the demolition at the block south of Sixth Street between Clinton and Grand Streets, Hoboken, no date, (1963). Original prints: 3-1/2" x 5" wide with circa 2-1/2" x 3-3/4" wide image. No photographer indicated. Reverse of all blank except for processor's number, 558. High resolution tiffs on file. Reference prints on file.
The view is east: Sixth Street is at the left; Grand Street at the bottom; the Church of the Holy Innocents is in the background. The images have been numbered photo 1 and 2 although they were not marked as such. The sequence shows the progessive clearing of the lots. A small portion of an American Lead Pencil Company building on the east side of Clinton Street is seen at the right in photo 2; it has not been demolished.
Note in the background the high rise building on Castle Point which was the new administration building of Stevens Institute of Technology. It was on the site where Stevens Castle once stood.
