Sepia-tone photo of newspaper writers and photographers onboard the U.S.S. Orizaba, (Port of Debarkation), Hoboken, Dec. 1, (1918.) 6-1/2" high x 8-1/2" wide print with four punched holes (apparently two sets of two) in left margin. Photograph taken by U.S. Army Signal Corps as indicated by their symbol at lower left in image next to image number; also identified as "U.S. Official" at bottom center in image. Reverse has typewritten image number and caption as recorded below. None of the people are individually identified.
Typewritten text on reverse: 29310. A group of newspaper men and photographers on the Orizaba just before she sailed from Hoboken for France. Dec. 1. These men will cover the Peace Conference.
After then end of World War I, the Orizaba is recorded as having made several trips to Europe repatriating German prisoners of war and bringing American servicemen home. The peace conference mentioned did not formally begin until January 1919.
