Collections Item Detail
Sign, painted single-sided, wood, "Honey Roasted Nuts." Roadside vendor, Hoboken vicinity, 1980s-1990s.
Object/Artifact
Sign, painted single-sided, wood, "Honey Roasted Nuts," used by a person whose name is not known to us but was called the "Nut Man" and who sold nuts of all kinds by the roadside from the trunk of his car. This sign stood on the ground (worn bottom) leaning against the car.
He was usually located on west side of Jersey Ave. about a block south of the railroad overpass. Technically this is in Jersey City, but he was a roadside icon to Hobokenites.
Orange background on 1/2" plywood, 24"w x 48"h, with black hand-lettering listing the various kinds of nuts he offered.
