Single-side, wall-mounted exterior sign "We Loan We Buy" from the site of Lustig Pawnbrokers at 312 Washington St., Hoboken. Estimated as originally from the 1970s.
Single pine plank, 60"l x 14"h, with chamfered edge (black) & applied 1/2" egg-and-dart molding. Except for the chamfer, the sign is painted off-white with black painted block lettering. "We" is 3.25"h; "Buy" & "Loan" are 8.5"h.
A pawnbroker had been at this location for several decades. Lustig relocated out of town ca. 1995. In 1965, it was known as Hoboken Pawnbrokers. After 1995 it became a clothing store, "Cheap Maggies," and from 2002 onward, a wedding and stationery store, "Yes, I Do!"
