Painted exterior, single-sided, advertising sign, "Ortiz Transmission," Hoboken, n.d. (ca. 1970's.) 25.75"h x 10'-8.5"w. Painted sheet metal with rear wood framing and 3/4" metal angle edging. Three hanging brackets.
Ortiz Transmission was at 308 2nd St. (between Clinton St. & Willow Ave.) near the American Legion garage. Sign was found as hung over the garage door. Sign was painted and signed by "Wm. T. Rivera." Besides several lines of lettering there is painted vignette at the right end of two mechanics under a car on a lift.
There is some loss of paint and continued flaking on the left side of the sign. The edge molding is missing at the left edge. Wood frame is rotted and the sheet metal and edge is partially detached from it. Rust has developed primarily at the edges and rear. 25.75"h x 10'-8.5"w.
