Sample ticket: Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad Company, Restricted Monthly Commutation Ticket for September 1948; Good for unlimited number of rides between Far Hills - Bedminster and New York. Form RMC. Unissued. No date, Jan, Jun3 or July 30, 1948. Printed yellow card stock, red edge, 2-7/16" high x 4" wide. Printed two sides with conditions on back.
This ticket was also valid for passage between New York and Denville (Via Morristown), Lake Hopatcong (Via Paterson) or Montclair.
Inkstamp on the reverse: Sample J[illegible] 30 1948 Rand McNally & Co.
All rail travel to or from New York would have used the Lackawanna Terminal in Hoboken; a ferry ride (or travel on the Hudson & Manhattan Railroad - the 'Tubes') was necessary. Condition 7 on the back: That it is good for passage between New York City and Hoboken, N.J. over the Lackawanna ferries at Christopher or Barclay Streets only as part of a continuous journey in connection with a rail trip.
