Classic Fireboats in Action. Harbor Fires - New York & New Jersey 1900-1950. The Ahrens-Fox Video Library, Webster Groves, MO. Copyright 1996.
VHS tape cassette with printed sleeve. Black-and-white. Running time: 30:00. Copy 1; copy 2 use copy.
A compilation of archival footage with titles, music and narration from several fires in the New York Harbor including three in Hoboken plus others in Jersey City and Weehawken. (It is entirely likely that the Hoboken Fire Department assisted at the fires depicted in Jersey City and Weehawken.)
The fireboats were built by the Ahrens-Fox Fire Engine Company and their features are occassionally described with some detail.
The Hoboken fires are:
Fire No. 1. Hoboken Ferry Terminal 1905; 6:30 to 7:40; Edison footage; Hoboken firemen seen.
Fire No. 2. Hoboken Pier 1927, S.S. Seneca; 9:30 to 11:20; mostly newsreel aerial footage including the Lipton Tea sign
Fire No. 3. Hoboken Pier 1944; 22:50 - 23:50; several views of Hoboken firemen at work including one of their Ahrens-Fox fire trucks (a pumper); footage of injured longshoremen with rescue and first aid; three deaths.
