Notes: Archives 2001.126.0082 [pg 1] LEISURE TIME! Your boy and girl—What are they doing with their leisure C/ time? Are the friends your boy makes on the street corners always the ones you would choose for him? The "Movies" that your girl attends with such unfailing regularity—Are they making the best impressions on her growing mind? Those time-wasting habits that your boy can so easily pick up—He will be handicapped in his later years because now, so often, he has nothing to do. When the hot sultry days of summer are here, will your boy be going down to the docks to swim, in water containing dirt, garbage and typhoid germs in about equal proportions? These problems and many others which are inseparable from the bus' mess of bringing up your children can be solved. Allow them to become members of the COMMUNITY "Y". Here, in competitions and clubs built around the very things which fascinate boys and girls, they will find real friends. Can you picture anything more attractive than an hour's rollicking fun in the gym and a plunge in the cool waters of an absolutely safe pool? At the "Y" there are no moments with "nothing to do." Here your youngster will enjoy a virile program and the strenuous activities which build sturdy bodies, while you will know they are absorbing the influence which make for true character.
