DescriptionPrinted ticket of the Hudson & Manhattan Railroad Co., 1917. 2-3/4" wide x 1-29/32" high. Printed one side in three colors. Reverse unprinted, but has ink validation stamp. Cut-out notch on bottom edge from a ticket chopper. "Good for One First Class Passage" from New York to Newark, N.J. Ticket was purchased and validated at 33rd St. terminal New York on Sept. 5, 1917. Additionally punched on the passage line. Serial numbered at bottom left: 170930. Note that the faint security pattern background is the repeated cross-section tunnel view of the head of a train. It was apparently sold at the 33rd Street station as indicated by the "33-3" on the lower left side of each part of the ticket.
