Photograph
Photo of five Hoboken Fire Department engines lined up near piers 6 and 7, Hoboken, no date, circa 1958-1960.
Copy print, 5" x 6-3/4" wide; original photographer not indicated. Reverse is blank.
The view is northeast with the flagpole to the upper left at Castle Point. To the right at the bulkhead, is a tugboat or fireboat (if so, it was not part of the Hoboken Fire Department which did not have one.) Note that the unit second from left is the only modern one, a Ward LaFrance pumper, the others being older Ahrens-Fox equipment from the 1930s. This Ward LaFrance apparatus did not join the roster of apparatus until June 16, 1958 (see notes.)
In the far background center, is the pier shed of Pier 8 or the "Long Pier."
From the personal papers of the late Fred E. Meyer, Hoboken Fire Department member 1956-1988.
