Holland died in 1924 and the Hudson Vehicular Tunnel, as the project was called, was renamed that year in his honor.
This image is from the personal papers of John C. McEnroe who was the Secretary of the New Jersey Interstate Bridge and Tunnel Commission. It was the New Jersey authority cooperating with a New York Commission for overseeing the project. He died on June 2, 1925. Print was an enclosure in a photograph album, photo catalog 2012.017.0001.
