Text on tablet reads: Dedicated to the Valiant American Expeditionary Forces Who Embarked From This Port to Participate in the World War 1917-1918. Erected by Hoboken Assembly, Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus, May 30, 1925. The modern bronze plaque is from 1978 and was done by the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders. It is mounted on the east side of a black metal fence that surrounds the boulder except on the west side. Officially known as World War One Memorial Tablet. Original location was Pier 4 near River Street (circa Fourth St.) It was located on River St. near Pier B, between 2nd and 3rd Sts. in 1976. It was moved to its present location ca. 2002-2003 with the completion of the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway in this area.
