The Muni-meter system had replaced all other metered parking in Hoboken. After payment and entry of selections on a key pad, the machine issues a time-stamped and serially numbered card for authorized paid parking that must be placed on the curbside of the front dashboard.
The these two pieces of street furniture replaced the traditional parking meters that were in use until early 2011. They were in the first group of kiosks installed as a test on the east side of Washington Street from Observer Highway to Fifth Streets in late 2009 or early 2010. Installation of the entire system went forward in 2011 and other parking meters in Hoboken were removed in 2011. Muni-meters were also placed in areas where parking had not previously been metered.
There also images present of the associated signage added to lamp posts regarding the use and location of this metered parking system.
See image captions for details.
See archives 2012.002.0006 for a typical "Parking Ticket" (as stated on the printed piece); the text on the kiosk calls it a receipt.
