Sepia-tone photo of view west down 12th Street from Hudson St., Hoboken, n.d., ca. 1926-1932
Photograph
Sepia-tone photo of a view west down Twelfth Street from Hudson St., Hoboken, no date, circa 1926-1932.
8" x 10" wide print. Photograph taken by W.R. Harrison (William R. Harrison), Photographer, 279 Grove St., Jersey City, N.J. Reverse is blank except for photographer's oval inkstamp.
At the south curb midway in the block is a horse and cart with an automobile parked closer to Washington St. The Elysian Flats or Apartments (northeast corner of Twelfth and Washington Streets) are seen to the right. A woman with a baby carriage and 4 children are on the southwest corner, a man stands a little further away. The storefront on that corner, 1126 Hudson, has empty windows and appears unoccupied.
A briefcase or satchel sits unattended on the sidewalk at the northeast corner (right.) It probably belonged to the photographer who is standing on the east side of Hudson Street.
Enameled street signs, left, on building. Pendant street light.
While undated, the date range is suggested by other items in this accession. This photo is from an accession group that consists of photographs from Hoboken Police Department records. Discarded in the 1990s, the original documentary purpose of this photo is not stated or apparent.
